Child Assessment & Interview TeamStirling Street, Perth WA - Completed 2012

Our fit-out team was commissioned to provide full architectural services to design, document and administer the contract for the Child Assessment & Interview Team & Department for Child Protection (CAIT & DCP) office fit-out. The brief included several design challenges with an extremely compressed programme required for the design, documentation, tender and construction period.

The refurbishment included a portion of the split-level ground floor accommodating new Interview Rooms, Reception, Public Waiting Area, Office and Amenities as well as existing Office Space, Property Store and Amenities on part of level two.

The design requirement was to provide a child friendly and safe environment to cater for a wide range of children’s ages, nationalities and backgrounds. The Interview Rooms required a relaxed intimacy that provided privacy and acoustic sensitivity to suit court quality visual and audio recording devices. A high level of security and acoustic treatment was required to suit the sensitive nature of the end users and their young and vulnerable clients. A child friendly themed environment was required to seamlessly interface, in a non-invasive manner, with specialised state of the art recording and CCTV for the Recorded Interview Rooms and adjoining Listening post stations.

Furniture selection and procurement was required to suit the theme, programme and budget, while simultaneously satisfying the stricture of the project’s severe lead-time constraints, functionality and necessary longevity.

The enhanced communal amenities provide functional and harmonious environments conducive to the enjoyment of the staff and public.
